Excuse my profanity in the videos. I must have dropped 50 F-bombs. Turn the audio off if you offend easily. I just could not contain my excitement. Also, I only had a mini-tripod with me so obviously the shots aren't the greatest. Click on the pics for a high-res shot.
To give you some perspective on how rare it is to get a fish like this on my small (but deep) lake, the last fish that I heard about was 17 lbs, and was caught in 1969.
Here is the reading from my Normark Scale - 15.2 lbs. I'm going to have it calibrated because I'm not sure I trust the readings - there's a bit of rust in it. Hopefully it works in my favour!
Excuse my profanity and incoherent muttering - I'm just in an astonished state:
Of course - I released it. This fish is probably 20 years old, at least. From now on - I troll with Big Spoons. Maybe there's a 30 lb'er in there somewhere.....

Dude... DUDE...
That's HUGE.
Did you get a peek at what it was eating? I'm sure it could have ate your dog.
Spoons... its all about the spoons...
SWEET fish!!
Wow, what a fish Cadman! Congratulations on landing a true monster. The one lake trout I ever caught was actually about that size, and that's no fish tale. The fact that I never caught another one probably says enough about my luck on that particular day.
A trout cradle would have worked wonders there, as they come in over a meter long so its easy to put a lunker like that into it.
What an amazing fish!

Cadman,
Great Pictures and Great Story; Great fish of course!
You got me exited now that I need to keep an eye on your blog for the 30 pounders!
